The Happy Hour Restaurant

The Happy Hour Restaurant I have been passing through Wells River for a couple decades ... and never stopped. Wells River, Vermont is that kinda place. A pass through, a way to get to somewhere else. This time, I decided to stop and see the town. I am not sad that I did. This is pretty much it: a nice, homey downtown area — quintessential rural New England. I walked through the front door to find a pleasant cabin-in-the-woods ambience, an interior dominated by pine boards. I felt right at home immediately. This is  "regular guy" place. Main St., Wells River, VT The waitress, Barbara, greeted me right away and picked out a nice booth. I surveyed both the menu and my surroundings. American family style, roast turkey with mashed potatoes and burgers — my kinda “regular guy” food. It all looked so good. My Quest

After a lifetime of pursuing the best “regular guy” foods in New England I’ve finally decided to open my own burger blog to document my adventures. This food quest is not limited to burgers, although burgers are primary to the nirvana I seek. I’ve also been questing after the best clam chowder, the best buffalo wings, the best cheese steak sub, etc. Oh, and desserts too. What is a guy without dessert? And, I may occasionally share a thought or two on a good beer encountered. More on each of these as we move forward. But first a few ground rules. My search is limited to Northern New England: Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. My search is limited to stand alone restaurants and pubs. Fast food and chain restaurants are out-of-bounds. And, no, I’m not dissing women. Women rock! and love burgers too, but I’m a regular guy — this is my quest for foods that I enjoy. If you know of a good burger within zone of interest, please let me know where I can find it.
